Competitors set to work completing 40 set problems ranging from 4c to 7c, and with a friendly and competitive atmosphere it was clear a good show was on the cards. The men's open category saw current British Champion Ned Feehally dispatching all forty problems on his first attempt placing him at the top of the table and closely followed by an on form Dave Barrens, only 3 points shy of Ned's top score. In the women's category Naomi Buys provided a very stylish performance placing her first at the end of qualification, with Zoe Ogden coming a close second. In the junior category, under 16's male Nathan Phillips put on a great show as he ticked his way through the hard qualifying problems to win his category. Charlotte Ellison also looking very strong winning the under 16 females, and well done to Nick Clement with a high scoring round to top the male vets.

Dave Barrans mens winner

Excited to catch the start of the 'Bloc Party finals', spectators positioned themselves along the viewing gallery and down the mats. With 'MC Smithers' on the mike the crowd was buzzin as the first of the competitors entered the floor. In the finals, four competitors from the male and female open categories worked to complete 3 on sight final problems with only five minutes to attempt each consecutive problem. A great atmosphere and some excellent climbing saw Dave Barrens showing some real style and world cup strength to complete all three finals problems to take first place. The next three places were a closely fought battle with Ned Feehally, Adam Jeewooth and Jordan Buys vying for second and third. In the end it was a strong showing from Ned who just pipped Adam to second place.

Naomi Buys female winner

In the females, the finals saw a continued strong performance from Naomi Buys climbing herself to first place and coming close to completing all three finals problems in good style. A close second went to Zoë Ogden, who demonstrated a good display of dynamic strength on the last of the women's problems. A great showing from Ellie Howard, Charlotte Telfer and Tanya Meredith left little to separate the last three competitors with Ellie Howard and Charlotte Telfer eventually sharing third spot.

Thanks to all the competitors who turned up to take part and for making the event such a success and thanks also to our competition sponsors E9, Scarpa, Evolve, Nevisport, Metolius and OCD for their generous prizes.
